If you haven't seen George Clooney's black & white ode to American broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow, get thee to the theatre right away. Clooney has delivered an incisive, well-crafted profile of the man who dared defy junior Senator Joe McCarthy and who was the first to condem publicly McCarthy's heavy-handed witch-hunt for Communists in the 1950s.
Clooney's aim here is overtly political and he doesn't sugarcoat that message one bit. The timing is very good indeed -- a wake-up call to the press to take its responsibility as the exposer of truth seriously, even if your name is Fox News or USA Today...
